7 Signs Your Living With A Threeanger.

We’ve all heard about the about the dreaded toddler and teenager years. However one thing most parents aren’t warned about until its too late is the ‘THREENAGER’.

DEFINITION OF A THREENAGER: A Three year old child spouting the attitude of a spoiled teenage *facepalm*.

I myself have a Threenager a 3-year-old girl who acts like they are going on 13. She often shows a lot of attitude, has a lot of opinions and well Hell hath no fury a Threenager who doesn’t get her own way.

Here are 7 telltale signs that you yourself are living with a Threenager.

1. They want to do everything by themselves.
Dare try and interfere with there independence and its meltdown time. My little girl recently threw a tantrum recently because she wanted to walk back from pre school on her own and then when I tried to hold her hand all hell broke loose.

2. No amount of trying could convince them to tell you what happened at preschool.
Its like they have some sort of code ‘WHAT HAPPENS AT PRE SCHOOL, STAYS AT PRE SCHOOL’. Everyday I ask my 3 year old a series of questions about her day at preschool.
“what did you do at Pre school today?”
Threenager- “‘NOTHING”.
“did you do draw?”
“did you play outside?”

 3. Everything and I mean everything has to be done NOW!! When she wants something she wants it NOW!! In a minute and wait a second are just not part of there vocabulary.

4. They’ve started to say things like …
‘I will do that if I want to’, ‘Your Being to noisy’ and ‘Stop looking at me like that’.

 5. They will say ‘there too busy’ when you ask them to do anything.
Sweetheart can you do mummy a favour please, past mummy’s those wet wipes that are right next to your foot. Threenager’ I just don’t think I can, I’m too buusssyyy’ .

6. When they ask you to do  something or for something  and you say no they try to bargin with you.Threenager “I think if I pick up my toys then I can have some sweets mummy.. OK ?”
“Is that a deal mummy?”

7. Parents being put in time out is a thing. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been told I’m a naughty mum and I need to go sit on the step.

The good news is that they wont be 3 forever and for most of us this is just a phase that they will grow out of. Threenagers can be hard work and it can be so tiring at times. But then other the other side of it there a little big person now and can say and do things which can melt your heart and all that stuff from before just washes away.

Do you have a THREENAGER at home? What do your THREENAGERS do?  I’d love to hear of any that I might have missed out 🙂 ….

  10. February 11, 2016 / 10:46 am

Yep and I'm afraid they don't get any better, the teenage years are a lot worse that the toddler ones!

    • February 14, 2016 / 12:01 am

Oh dear lol just praying for a slight break in between. Might be wishful thinking thou x

  11. February 11, 2016 / 11:01 am

ha ha my brood is now aged 5,6,7,12,13,and 17 so I remember these times very well

    • February 14, 2016 / 12:02 am

Aww bet you've had you fair share of experience with this then. But hey your proof that you can survive it lol x

  12. February 11, 2016 / 2:35 pm

Might not last forever, but just wait until you get a 4 or 5 year old. You still don't know anything about what goes on in school. Or at least not the things you want to know.

  13. February 11, 2016 / 8:04 pm

It's a phenomenom. Between walking out of their nursery and meeting you, their mind is wiped. Our two are the same. It's bizarre!

  14. February 11, 2016 / 9:00 pm

Oh yes, I have a threenager – I have just shared a post about a rather epic tantrum he had last weekend! Great aren't they? Kaz x

  17. February 11, 2016 / 11:42 pm

Lol threenager?! I like that, the terrible twos and threes are quite a handful aren't they?

    • February 14, 2016 / 12:04 am

Haha that's one word for it lol

      Love them really lol

  18. February 12, 2016 / 2:26 am

I think I have a sevenager! Kids can be tricky and we are going through a hard time at the minute. Angela

    • February 14, 2016 / 12:05 am

Aww yeah that they are, if you ever need a chat feel free to message me always happy to listen plus take my mind of my own child issues

  19. February 12, 2016 / 7:45 am

We are still in the terrible two stage here at the moment – i think every age brings a new challenge

    • February 14, 2016 / 12:06 am

100% agree then and I'm sure it will remain that way until way into adulthood.

  20. February 12, 2016 / 6:15 pm

When my niece hit Threenager she was a nightmare, the terrible two's was like a mild strop in comparison x

    • February 14, 2016 / 12:07 am

Haha yep I think the Threenager was made worst by the fact that it was unexpected, people always talk about the terrible twos no one ever mentions anything about when they turn 3 lol

  21. February 13, 2016 / 8:45 pm

Ha ha ha, this made me laugh! Make sure you keep a good record so you can suitably embarrass her at a later date. Hilarious. (Also, I'm sure the phase will shortly pass…!)

    • February 14, 2016 / 12:07 am

Haha yup gonna be keeping a full day to day diary with photos too lol
      Mean mummy :p
