I can’t believe that its Christmas time already, well technically its 5 days away now but still…eeeekk! With the kids being off school now, I have been enjoying spending time with them and kind of neglected my blog a little bit. However when Sarah from Toby Goes Bananas tagged me in The Christmas Tag to answer some Christmas related questions, I couldn’t help but join in the festive fun (Once the kiddies were in bed of course).
So here are my answers, I hope you enjoy!
What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
Elf….. “Santas Coming! Oh, my god! Santas coming! I know him! I know him!”
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Sadly I can’t remember ever having a white Christmas, however it would be amazing. Its snowed a few times here but never at the right time. Would love for both my little ones to be able to experience snow at Christmas, so magical.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
We always spend our holiday at home. Both me and my partner don’t have many family members living close by, so it tends to just be us. I am a bit of home girl when it comes to Christmas I must admit, I like being able to do things at our own pace and the kids getting to play with their new bits from Santa etc. That being said Christmas abroad one year, I wouldn’t say no too either.
What’s your favourite Christmas song?
Its always been Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty Macoll. There are a lot of great Christmas songs around but something about that song always puts a smile on my face and makes me feel all christmassy.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
No we just stick to opening them Christmas day. Me and my partner use to do it when it was just us, but now we have the kids we find it works better for us not too.
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Nope lol I think I know about 4 or 5 off the top of my head then I have to rely on google.
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
I love spending Christmas eve together as a family. We don’t really do the whole Christmas eve box thing, however we do always have new PJs, Hot chocolate and a Christmas film before putting the kids to bed the night before.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
What’s your favourite holiday food/treat/sweet?
Pigs in blankets, Stuffing, Quality Street, Crackers, Cheese… the list could go on.
Be honest. Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?
Definitely giving gifts, its such a nice feeling to see the look on peoples faces. In fact this year we made friends with a family who have been facing tough times and decided to help them out. Wasn’t anything major we gave them our old tree as they didn’t have one, some decorations for it and helped them decorate their house. We also gave them some presents for them and the kids. Was lovely seeing how much it mean’t to them and their little ones.
What’s the best Christmas present you’ve ever received?
My partner purposed to me Christmas day 2 years ago, which is Definitely up there with one of the best.
What’s your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I would love to visit Australia, my partner is always on about us going their and he loved his experience of it.
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I would like to think I’m a pro wrapper lol. But I’m not sure my partner would agree in comparison to his wrapping skills. However I use enough sellotape to make sure there pretty much indestructible.
What’s your most memorable Christmas memory?
Christmas growing up with my dad, has always stuck in my head. His side of the family are really traditional and I loved it growing up. Christmas day all the family coming round and opening presents together one by one then in the evening enjoying a lovely full roast dinner and pudding. Then Boxing day going to the pub as a family to watch the Morris men. Its a memories that have always stuck with me.
What made you realise the truth about Christmas?
I actually don’t remember a specific moment when I stopped believing.
What makes the holidays special for you?
I love just being together as a family. Everyday lifes can be hectic at times, especially now with both kids being at school. Its nice just to take a break from it all and get to know each other again especially the kids. The kids are changing so much everyday you sometimes forget as just how quickly there growing and learning new things. Its nice to have time to spend with them.
